Perth’s skies will light up once again on January 26, with Australia Day celebrations returning to Langley Park for one of the City’s largest and most anticipated free public events.

Back as Principal Partner, Hancock Prospecting will support a full day of festivities along the Swan River, culminating in Perth’s best views of the 8.30pm fireworks and drone light show.

A Full Day of Entertainment by the River

The 2026 celebrations will feature a mix of free and ticketed family entertainment, live activities and food trucks, all set against the iconic riverside backdrop. A highlight this year is the expanded Hancock Prospecting Picnic Zone, offering additional seating and a relaxed, picnic-style space where visitors can settle in and enjoy the atmosphere throughout the day.

Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the continued partnership plays a key role in delivering the event for the community.

“It is an honour to welcome Hancock Prospecting and Gina Rinehart back for a third year as Principal Partner of this much-loved City celebration,” Mr Reynolds said. “Thanks to their ongoing support, Langley Park will once again be a vibrant hub of activity, culminating in a world-class fireworks and drone show.”

A Celebration That Brings Perth Together

Lord Mayor Reynolds also highlighted the broader impact of Australia Day celebrations across the city.

“Our City shines brightest in summer. Events like Australia Day not only bring West Australians together but also boost visitation and support local businesses right across the City.”

The City of Perth confirmed the event remains a free celebration for the community, helping keep costs low for ratepayers while delivering a large-scale, family-friendly experience in the heart of the city.

Supporting a Major WA Event

Hancock Prospecting CEO Garry Korte said the Perth-headquartered company was proud to once again support the celebrations.

“We are proud to partner with the City of Perth in celebrating our national day and the values that make Australia one of the best countries in the world.”

Executive Chairman Gina Rinehart added that Australia Day celebrations are an important opportunity to reflect on national unity, history and the industries that have helped shape Western Australia’s prosperity.

Fireworks Over the Swan River

With Langley Park offering prime viewing locations, relaxed picnic spaces and easy access to the CBD, Australia Day 2026 is set to be one of Perth’s standout summer events.

Families, friends and visitors are encouraged to arrive early, enjoy the daytime activities, and stay on for an unforgettable evening as fireworks and drones light up the Swan River skyline.
